Loco for Local Urban Kitchen!

It’s no secret that brunch has taken over as a meal-time favorite these days. Whether you are an early bird who likes to eat just as restaurant doors open, or someone who sleeps in so late you miss breakfast, brunch restaurants have the perfect menus. I tend to be a sucker for just about anything sweet and drenched in syrup…but when I’m trying to ignore my sweet tooth, and go for something on the healthier side, Local Urban Kitchen is the place to go.

Just blocks away from Point Pleasant beaches, Local Urban Kitchen is ideally located for a pre-beach breakfast or a post-beach lunch! The restaurant prides itself on its organic, locally sourced foods, as well as all of its “up-cycled” furnishings. If being environmentally friendly is important to you, put this on your list of eateries to check out.

Product: Local Urban Kitchen’s menu is just out-right refreshing. They have a drink menu filled with fresh-pressed juices, and smoothies that are customizable to whatever your heart desires (personally, I’m partial to a good ole’ fresh squeezed OJ). The breakfast and lunch menus are filled with variety as well! Their Poached Special Benedict is one of my favorites -avocado, poached eggs, and alfalfa sprouts on top of an ezekial bread toast. Yum! If you’re dragging one of your not-so-health-conscious friends who would much rather have Nutella pancakes, they also have that too! There’s a little bit of everything for everyone to enjoy!

Ambiance: Walking into Local Urban Kitchen never fails to put a smile on my face! Their wooden tables are covered with brown paper instead of table cloths (they even provide crayons for you to bring out your inner child), and their benches are upholstered with a variety of fabrics. Decorations that adorn the walls also add to the rustic feel of the restaurant. The tables are fairly close together, yet I have rarely ever felt as if someone was sitting right on top of me while being there. It’s fairly small so it never gets too loud, and probably isn’t best for large parties.

Customer Service: I can’t really say that I have anything to complain about Local Urban Kitchen’s service. I have never had a long wait to be seated, and I love that we are allowed to seat ourselves! It can take a few minutes before a waitress comes over to take your order, but it gives you plenty of time to choose your food so this has never been an issue for me. I will also add that I have never had a complaint about my food being too cold, or being the wrong order like I have had at other restaurants. I find it really comforting that they use an ipad while you dictate your order so that you know your meal is getting entered in correctly right away! The food always comes out in a timely manner, and even when you can’t find your server, there is always someone around who you can ask for anything you need. Overall, I’ve had nothing short of positive experiences during my visits here.
