I have a few friends who have Celiac Disease, and therefore can’t have gluten. Most of the time when baked goods are ordered for a celebration, they aren’t made gluten free and my friends have to miss out. Being the cupcake lover that I am, it really made me sad to see that they weren’t able to participate in something so simple and so delicious. But, then it was Papa Ganache to the rescue!

Papa Ganache is a vegan, gluten-free, kosher bakery located on Main Street in Matawan. Not only do they sell delicious treats, but they also work with children to provide therapy through the process of baking. They even won an episode of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars!

Product: Papa Ganache prides itself on being vegan, gluten-free and certified kosher. They use mostly organic products, and have options that do not contain soy or nuts available. All gluten-free products are created in a gluten-free kitchen that is separate from the gluten goodies to avoid cross contamination. The best part about this place is that you’d never even know that they’re different from any other bakery! When people think gluten-free, vegan, etc. they typically think that the food won’t be as good as their gluteny non-vegan counterparts. However, Papa Ganache has managed to make amazing cupcakes, donuts, cookies, etc. that taste incredible! If you put a “regular” cupcake and one of their cupcakes side by side and did a taste test, you wouldn’t be able to figure out which was which…they’re just that good! They also have plenty of flavor varieties such as Italian Cookie Cupcakes, s’mores cupcakes, and more!

Ambiance: I don’t really have a whole lot to say about the ambiance because it’s a bakery and not a restaurant. You can custom order things to be picked up, or look in the cases when you arrive to pick out your treats. If you have specific flavors in mind, you may want to go early in the day. When I’ve gone in the evening to pick up some cupcakes, the case was almost out! This is definitely a testament to how much people love their food!

Customer Service: The people behind the counter and incredibly helpful and efficient. They have answered many of my questions and are really patient with me when I ask if a specific product is definitely 110% gluten-free because you can’t tell the difference! When custom ordering, they are very attentive to your wants and needs to make your baked-goods exactly what you’d hope for it to be!
